I have tested the heat press sample and unfortunately the colour has not come out very visible  I don think I  will be using this method on my knickers.

I have sampled transfer paper and it makes the material very stiff and stops it from stretching, but the image is clear to see. I will use transfer paper, but to do so means I will individually cut out each music note. I have drawn the music notes from my memory of learning music at school.

I have developed my transfer sample by adding embelishment. I have added black and pint embelishing to the sample.

 

In this image I have gone roung the Pin-up girl in black thread to enhance the drawing lines.

 

 

In this image I have added a pink thread to give colour to the corset, bows and lips.

I have decided to create three pairs of knicker briefs in a medium size, on two of the knickers I will put musical notes and on the other my brand logo I created in the last project. I will look at using heat press and transfer paper to do the print, I already know that to have my logo on my knickers I will need to use transfer paper, I could do heat press on two pairs and transfer paper on the other pair.

I decided to buy a pattern to create my knickers.

The pattern that I bought has four different knicker types such as briefs, shorts, thongs and high waisted briefs. I decided to create a pattern of the high waisted briefs. I used calico for the sample and found that the material was not very stretchy, so I knew I needed to get a jersey fabric.

I realised the knickers were very high waisted and decided to use the normal brief pattern.

At the beginign of my making I tried to create my own pattern. To do this is I took a pair of knickers and cut up the side and cut the gusset away from the front pannel. I pinned the taken apart knickers onto dop and cross paper and drew round them to create a pattern.I think the fabric I used had a effect on how the knickers looked.

I have took an image I have drawn of a 'Pin-Up girl' and scanned it onto a computer. I have then printed the image onto 'Transfer Paper'. After I have placed the image on to fabric I used the heat press, you need to apply heat onto the transfer paper so that the image prints onto the fabric.

These are some of my heat press samples.To create heat press I have drawn my image onto a piece of paper and paint over it with 'Transfer Paint', but insted of using a drawn image I have also used my lino prnt of hearts. After the paint had dried you warm the heat press up to 200 degrees, place the paper and piece of fabric onto the heat bed and put the heat bed under the heat press to get the image to print onto the fabric.

To start off my pattern making I will use a current technique I have learned. To create a lino block you first need to decide what you want as your print, I have chosen to do a repeated heart pattern. You then draw your image onto the lino and start to cut away the drawing lines. To print the lino onto either fabric or paper you use a paint called 'block paint'.

The only problems with the block print is that the material can not be washed as the paint will run, and if I printed this onto a colourful fabric and wanted to keep the colour, it would then be covered by the paint.

Pattern

To create my own pattern, I will use methods such as Lino print, heat press , transfer paper & many more, I will show evidence of the step by step process & evaluate every sample.
