I have created the frame for my heart from thick metal strips.

 

 

I have added stips of metal going from the middle outward to give the hear abit more securtity.

I have left this sample in from Friday 12th til today. The colour seems to be getting darker the longer it is left to soak i am going to try more samples over longer periods of time.

Victoria secret steam punk wings

Whilst trying to find them image of the wing that inspired me to make my own wings, I found an image of a pair of wings that are inspired by the steam punk movement. The wings are beautiful.

lace- overnight sample

i left a sample in over night to see if the dye would have more affect over time, the dye made the material darker but not as dark as I was looking to have it. I will leave a sample in from today until Tuesday 16th to see what the effect of the dye has.

Marbling:

I sore one of my fellow students what they have done to dye fabric and Kirstie said 'marbling', I tried the marbling in green at first to see how well the colour took, the green was very vibrant. I dyed the lace into the solution and found it had a very weird colour texture.

Dylon dye:
I have uses a fabric dye, I will sample the dye in stages of days and weeks to see if the colour darkens when the fabric is left to soak in the dye.

I can see the difference in these two different samples, the first one in very light and after leaving it in for an hour the fabric has gone a little darker. I will leave a sample in over night.

corset ideas

When looking at different styles of corsets I noticed that a few had lace over the top, this gave me the idea of adding purple lace to the corset. When looking for lace i could only find white and black, I decided to dye the white lace purple. I chose purple as its my favorite colour and it fits into my project.

mini wing sample

i have created mini wing samples, one sample is just the type of material and shape i would make the wings from. The other sample is the frame being cover in red leather to see how the wings would look cover in material.

I decided to draw some illustration of the type wing I would create. i have decided i like the heart wings the best and am going to look at creating these wings.

I was watching an old victoria secret video and sore a model wearing a pair of wings, I looked closer and noticed that on the wings were photos, this gave me an idea to create my own wings and cover them with my own photography. Unfortunately after watching the video i couldn't find the image again.

The wings below are not the wings i saw in the video.

I like the style and colour of these wings.

I have looked at a band called ' smashing pumpkins', in the video 'tonight tonight' they are dressed in the steam punk style. I found the clothing very inspirational and it gave me a few ideas on what my collection should look like.
